Why public transport works for Jibhi
Most travellers reach Jibhi by bus. It's affordable, and it saves you the stress of mountain driving. The usual pattern is an overnight bus to Aut, then a taxi or local bus up to Jibhi. From Delhi, that's about 10–12 hours to Aut plus 1–1.5 hours to Jibhi, so roughly 12–14 hours door to door. From Chandigarh, plan on about 9–10 hours including the change at Aut.
Aut is the key junction. Most Delhi and Chandigarh buses don't go to Jibhi itself, so you change there. It's a routine change: taxis usually wait near where the buses stop, and local buses run towards Banjar.

Delhi to Aut: HRTC buses
HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) runs overnight buses from Kashmiri Gate ISBT towards Kullu and Manali that pass through Aut. When we last checked, ordinary buses cost roughly ₹800–₹1,000 and Volvos roughly ₹1,100–₹1,500. Most leave in the evening, often between about 8 pm and 10 pm, and take about 10–12 hours to reach Aut.
You can book on the HRTC website or app, or at the bus stand. HRTC buses are government-run and generally dependable. The Volvos are more comfortable for an overnight ride, with reclining seats and usually charging points.
Delhi to Aut: private Volvo buses
Private operators such as Zingbus run overnight AC coaches towards Manali that stop at Aut, many of them from Majnu Ka Tilla. Fares were roughly ₹1,100–₹1,500 when we last checked, with evening departures and about 10–12 hours to Aut, depending on traffic.
Amenities vary by operator; some hand out blankets and water. You can book on redBus or on the operator's own app or website. For weekend travel, book 2–3 days ahead, as Friday buses can sell out and fares often go up close to departure.
Chandigarh to Aut: bus options
From ISBT Sector 43, HRTC and private buses run towards Kullu and Manali, with several departures a day. Get off at Aut. Fares were roughly ₹700–₹1,200 depending on the bus, and the ride to Aut usually takes around 8 hours. Add 1–1.5 hours from Aut to Jibhi, and you're looking at about 9–10 hours in total.
It's a shorter trip than from Delhi, with the same change at Aut. Book on the HRTC website, on redBus or at the bus stand.
Aut to Jibhi: local transport
From Aut, a taxi to Jibhi usually costs around ₹1,500–₹1,800 for the whole vehicle. Shared between 4–6 people, that's roughly ₹250–₹450 each. The drive takes about 1–1.5 hours. Shared taxis leave when they fill up, so the wait can be anything from a few minutes to an hour, depending on how many people are heading the same way.
Local buses are the cheapest option, at under ₹100 per person. The ride itself is about 1–1.5 hours too, but buses run less often than taxis and you may need to change at Banjar, so allow for waiting time. Ask at Aut for the day's timings, as they aren't always posted online and they change with the season.
Booking tips and timing
Book Delhi or Chandigarh buses 2–3 days ahead for weekends and 3–5 days ahead for long weekends. In busy periods (summer holidays, Diwali, Christmas and New Year), book earlier still. Keep a screenshot of your ticket handy, as mobile signal can be patchy in the hills.
Try to pick a bus that reaches Aut in the morning, roughly between 6 am and 10 am. That leaves plenty of time to find a shared taxi or a local bus and reach Jibhi in daylight. If you reach Aut in the afternoon, transport is usually still around but you'll have fewer options, so message us and we'll help you sort out the last leg.

Do buses go directly to Jibhi?
Not usually. Most buses from Delhi and Chandigarh stop at Aut on the Manali highway. From Aut, take a taxi (around ₹1,500–₹1,800 for the vehicle, split between passengers) or a local bus (under ₹100) for the last 1–1.5 hours to Jibhi.
Which is better: HRTC or private Volvo?
Both work. HRTC is government-run and generally dependable. Private Volvos sometimes add blankets and water and can cost a little more. Pick whichever has seats and timings that suit you.
How much does the bus cost?

Do bus schedules change in winter or the monsoon?
