Route from Delhi: overnight bus or self-drive
From Delhi, the overnight Volvo to Aut is standard. HRTC and private operators like Zingbus and Laxmi Holidays run nightly buses from Kashmiri Gate and Majnu Ka Tilla for ₹1,100–₹1,500. The journey takes 10–12 hours. From Aut, shared taxis to Jibhi cost ₹1,500–₹1,800 for the 1.5-hour climb.
Self-driving from Delhi is roughly 500 km and takes 10–12 hours via NH44 to Chandigarh, then NH205/NH154 to Mandi, NH3 to Aut, and the Banjar road. March weather is generally clear, but check for spring rain or fog. Start by 5 AM to reach Jibhi before sunset.
Route from Chandigarh: spring drive
Chandigarh to Jibhi is roughly 260 km and takes 7–8 hours by car. The route follows NH205 and NH154 towards Mandi, then NH3 to Aut. After the Aut tunnel, take the right turn towards Banjar/Jibhi. March brings clear views and blooming mustard fields along the way.
Private taxis cost ₹5,000–₹7,000 one way. HRTC and private Volvo buses run from ISBT Sector 43 towards Kullu/Manali. Drop at Aut and catch a local bus or taxi to Jibhi. Total journey time by bus: 9–10 hours.

March is shoulder season in Jibhi — winter crowds have left, summer crowds haven't arrived. Rustic runs standard dorm rates (₹600–₹750/night) and private suites (₹3,000/night). Availability is generally good, but book 1–2 weeks ahead for the Holi weekend.
The in-house café remains fully operational with spring menu items. Power backup is standard. Holi celebrations in Jibhi are gentle — some local homes may play with natural colors, but there's no forced participation. You can choose to join or simply enjoy the mountain weekend.
Things to do during Holi weekend
Spring is the perfect time for village walks. Orchards are blooming, mustard fields are yellow, and rhododendrons are pink. The Jibhi waterfall flows strong after winter snow melt. Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake are accessible — the pass is usually clear of snow by March, but check locally before you go.
If you want a cultural Holi experience, ask locals about gentle celebrations in nearby villages. Many travellers prefer to skip colors entirely and enjoy the natural mountain palette instead. Evenings are for bonfires, music, and community dinners.
